Hail and well-met, fellow travelers.
It has been a productive and whirlwind month. Many things to share, so I will endeavor to be brief — though I often fail at that!
THE OTHER SIDE
The horror comedy short I co-wrote with my friend and collaborator Niki Lopez, “The Other Side,” had a successful premiere at LALIFF. So many wonderful artists assembled together in one night, with a tremendous offering of truly innovative and breathtaking films.
We’re so grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response it got — and excited for its future on the festival circuit and beyond!
STAR TREK: PRODIGY SEASON TWO PREMIERES JULY 1st!
Part of the reason I’ve been absent these last couple of weeks is in preparation for the impending premiere of Star Trek: Prodigy’s second season, which drops on Netflix this July 1st! You can watch the trailer below:
And here are a few publicity stills:
The media blitz has been fast and furious, especially in these last two weeks leading up to the show dropping — which hopefully will arrive just as the anticipation reaches a fever pitch. I’ve given a few interviews to promote it, some of which have started hitting digital shelves, like this one with TrekMovie:

And this casual chat yesterday with the live YouTube show Netflix and Chill:

I hope you’ll all tune in on Netflix this Monday, July 1st to check out twenty brand new episodes of our series. I think it’s a knockout season— and those who have seen it have had some very kind and effusive things to say about it. Check it out!
A LITTLE Q&A
Lea Desnottes asks,
Are you considering to come to Annecy to attend the festival (this year or any year in the future)?
I would absolutely love to come to Annecy sometime. Often in the animation world, the showrunners are sent to the Annecy Film Festival to promote an upcoming show or season of a new animated project. I have a few coming down the pipeline that, should all go well, I could very well do so. I have only been to France a couple of times, briefly, where I visited the Alsace–Lorraine region and Provence. I loved both!
ONE COOL THING
I think often about perspective. By necessity, our frail human brains are wired to absorb everything in accordance with the little we have seen ourselves, and everything else is pure abstraction. It’s easy to forget that most of our planet is uninhabitable to us — and it’s always worth reminding ourselves to maintain the tiny sliver of Goldilocks zone we call home.
It was a revelation to learn that outside of a few narrow regions, most of the earth’s oceans don’t have enough food supply to sustain life. In the furthest oceans, the ecosystem just doesn’t have enough nutrients to sustain plankton, or the microorganisms that feed on them, or the shrimp and fish that feed on them, and so on. It’s strange to think that the wide open blue is not teeming with fish, but a lifeless “desert” — only wetter.
And in case that doesn’t faze you, look at this angle of the earth we don’t usually see:
Let’s take care of the little bit of rock we call home.
Be well,
